🌳 The European Commission has extended the implementation of the EU Deforestation Regulation by 12 months, allowing more time to meet the regulation's goal of eliminating deforestation-linked products from the EU market.
👀 A new investigation has found that UK retailers, including Tesco and Sainsbury’s, have misled consumers with their take-back schemes to recycle soft plastics, instead burning 70% of the waste.
🚚 Swedish EV software startup Einride is expecting to make redundancies in the near future, as reported by local media Breakit. According to insiders, this comes after the companies recent round of fundraising and is part of the investment deal to cut costs by 30%.

🪰 Canadian startup Entosystem, which produces proteins for animal nutrition and organic fertilisers from black soldier fly larvae, raised $58 million to boost production capacity and build a second commercial plant.
🌱 AgroSpheres closed its Series B funding round with $37 million. It will use the funds to advance its AgriCell platform, which forms a protective shell around pesticide solutions, physically shielding active ingredients from a range of environmental pressures.
🌾 French startup Micropep secured new funding for its natural crop protection solutions based on micropeptides, which are short natural protein molecules that target and regulate plant genes and proteins.
🏭 Cauldron Ferm, based in Australia, received investment from the Queensland government to build Asia-Pacific’s largest precision fermentation contract manufacturing plant, where it will employ its continuous fermentation process that lowers costs and increases production with significantly less capex.
👩🏻🔬 Scientists at the Technical University of Munich and France's National Research Institute for Agriculture, Food, and Environment have created new, more sustainable wheat varieties that could help tackle food security and climate change issues.
🥩 Singaporean cultivated seafood company Umami Bioworks is joining forces with biotech firm KCell Biosciences and bioprocess solutions provider WSG to set up a production line and path to market entry in South Korea.
🧀 Dutch-Belgian food tech Those Vegan Cowboys unveiled its precision fermentation casein protein, which has been four years in the making and is designed for “stretchier, meltier” animal-free cheeses.

🏭 Circe Bioscience raised $5 million seed funding and announced the installation of its pilot plant in Waltham, MA, allowing the company to scale up production of carbon-negative molecules, with a current focus on fats and oils.

💽 Barcelona-based Submer raised $55.5 million to expand its sustainable immersion cooling technology, designed to reduce energy consumption and water usage in AI-driven data centers, with a focus on key markets such as the US and APAC.
💫 Acceleron Fusion, based in the US, raised $15 million to further develop its fusion technology, which uses subatomic particles known as muons to lower the heat and pressure required for fusion reactions to take place.
🏭 Paris-based NRJx, which focuses on reducing energy consumption in factories, raised €2M in funding in a round led by BpiFrance. The startup already works with around thirty manufacturers in different sectors (agri-food, plastics, pharmaceuticals, etc.)

📊 Germany’s Atlas Metrics secured €12.2 million Series A funding. It will use the funds to invest in its team, expand into new markets, and further develop its ESG compliance and performance management platform.
🔎 Berlin-based Briink raised €3.85 million seed funding to build the world's first AI agents designed specifically for ESG teams, which will enable them to extract actionable insights from environmental datasets, build verifiable audit trails, and streamline workflows.

🧱 Lithuanian startup Sort A Brick secured €1.15 million to scale its AI-powered LEGO brick sorting service, which cleans, sorts, and repackages old LEGO collections, with plans to expand to Germany by 2025.
📦 S.Lab, based in Ukraine, received $100,000 in equity-free funding from Google to advance its hemp and mycelium-based packaging, which offers the same properties as polystyrene but biodegrades completely in 30 days.
🤝 Finnish circular economy company Syklo acquired Elastopoli, which makes patented cellulose biocomposites that can replace technical plastics and glass fiber composites, to further enhance its strategy to advance the circular economy.
Mobility x Climate

🛩 California-based Joby Aviation secured $500 million from Toyota to further develop its electric air taxis. It will use the funds to complete its Type 2 certification process with the Federal Aviation Administration and support commercial production of its electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft.
🔌 Paris-based Qovoltis, which develops smart electric vehicle charging stations controlled via an app, raised €45m in Series B funding from investors including Andera Partners, Epopée Gestion and Pâris Mouratoglou.
🪨 Bristol-based Anaphite raised £10.4 million for its innovative dry-coating process technology, which it says reduces EV battery energy usage by 30% and requires just 15% of the typical factory space for battery cell production.
🚲 Beam Global introduced the BeamBike™, a solar-powered ebike charger capable of charging up to 12 ebikes simultaneously and designed for rapid deployment.
